Welcome to the Jurisprudence self examination site.

It is the responsibility of every registrant to comply with the legislation governing the profession. Completion of the Jurisprudence examination is part of the requirement of becoming a registrant of the College of Massage Therapists of BC.

All the answers for the open-book jurisprudence examination may be found on the CMTBC’s web site.

There are three levels of legislation governing massage therapy in British Columbia.

  1. Health Professions Act of British Columbia
  2. The Massage Therapists Regulation (made pursuant to the Act)
  3. Bylaws of the college of Massage Therapists of British Columbia

The Bylaws of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (3) are available on the CMTBC web site at http://www.cmtbc.bc.ca/ under Legislation while the HP ACT (1) AND regulation (2) are resident on the government web site at http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/leg/ website or on http://www.cmtbc.bc.ca/ under legislation.

Please review the CMTBC’s web site and bubble in the correct answer.

A passing grade on this examnination is 50 out of total of 60 questions. The examination will be scored online immediately after completion, and if a candidate does not pass this examination he/she will need to re-apply with the College of Massage Therapists office and pay $50.00 to receive a new PIN in order to re-take the examination.

DO NOT use the "Back " and "Forward " buttons on your browser to navigate through the test, otherwise your responses will be lost. Instead, please use the "Previous " and "Next "buttons at the end of each page.

For technical reasons, once you begin the test you will have a maximum time of 20 minutes for each page. If you feel you are about to go over this time, just move to the next page and return by clicking "Next " at the bottom of the page then "Previous ".

To begin the test, please enter the PIN (Personal Identification Number) that was given to you by the CMTBC’s office when you applied for registration. You will only be able to use this PIN once.
